Hydrogen Innovation Takes Flight with Coregas and H2Use

Coregas is proud to support H2Use in their mission to innovate sustainable aviation through the power of hydrogen. The recent successful demonstration of H2Use’s hydrogen-powered airship marks a major milestone in the partnership, showcasing how clean energy and cutting-edge design can come together to defy conventional limits.

On May 25, 2025, H2Use completed Phase I of their airship project with a dramatic test flight over Redcliffe, Queensland. The airship, powered by hydrogen supplied by Coregas, demonstrated the versatility of the element, used both for buoyancy and propulsion via a fuel cell.

The project highlights the potential of hydrogen not only as a clean energy source, but also as a groundbreaking solution for next-generation transport technologies. Coregas has worked closely with H2Use to ensure safe, reliable hydrogen supply as the team brings their vision of zero-emission flight to life.

A New Era of Hydrogen-Powered Flight

Hydrogen delivered by Coregas, served as both the lifting gas and fuel, reinforcing the versatility of H₂ in aerospace innovation.

While the demonstration faced real-world challenges including an asymmetrical inflation issue that led to an unplanned but safely recovered 21-kilometre drift, the flight ultimately provided crucial performance data and validated many of the airship’s core systems.

Looking Forward

The project underscores the importance of testing, resilience, and partnership in driving new technologies forward. H2Use’s commitment to refining their design and pushing for cleaner skies mirrors Coregas’s mission to enable the future of hydrogen in Australia and beyond.

As H2Use prepares for the next phase, Coregas remains committed to fuelling innovation, on the ground and in the air.
