Depot Spotlight: Bundy Hot Gas

A family-owned gas business built on service

In 2009, Brad and Patricia Smith set out to create a local gas supply business that would serve Bundaberg and surrounding areas. Fast forward 16 years, and Bundy Hot Gas has grown from a two-person operation to a thriving business with 21 employees, all while staying true to its commitment to exceptional service.

Brad, who had worked in the gas industry for 20 years before starting his own business, opened Bundy Hot Gas with a clear vision. "When we first started, we were only selling one tank of gas a month. Now we’re running a full-service operation that covers everything to do with gas," he says. The company now supplies to over 4,000 customers, from households to major commercial clients, across Bundaberg, Gladstone, the coast, and even into New South Wales.

Partnering with Coregas

Bundy Hot Gas became a Coregas depot in 2019. "Making the switch to Coregas was a smart move for our business, allowing us to expand our product offerings and provide even better service to our customers."

Brad has built a strong relationship with Peter Morgan, Coregas Branch Manager, over the years. "Guys like him are one in a million. Finding someone with his knowledge and expertise is rare, he’s truly one of a kind."

What sets Bundy Hot Gas apart?

The secret to Bundy Hot Gas’s success is simple: customer service. "We’re a family-owned business, and when you call us, you’ll always get a friendly voice on the other end of the line, sometimes even mine, no matter the time of day or night," Brad explains. "If something goes wrong, we don’t wait around for someone else to fix it, we get it sorted fast."

The team includes Brad’s wife and two sons, along with long-term employees who have been with the company for over 12 years. "We don’t have a high staff turnover, and even during COVID, we kept busy. That stability and experience make a big difference."

Serving anyone who burns gas

"If you burn gas in any way, shape, or form, we can help you," Brad says. Bundy Hot Gas provides licensed gas fitting services and a wide range of industrial and specialty gases. The company delivers directly to customers' doors and operates two tankers that run bulk LPG deliveries full-time.

Brad sees great potential for growth with Coregas products. "It’s a big market to conquer, but we’re always out there knocking on doors and educating customers face-to-face," he says. He believes that personal relationships and trust are key to winning new business. "Most people only switch suppliers when they’re unhappy with their old one. If you can show them that you’re reliable and won’t overpromise, they’ll stick with you."

Looking ahead

With exciting growth on the horizon, Bundy Hot Gas is set to continue expanding its reach and capabilities. "We built this business from nothing to what it is today, and we’re only getting started," Brad says proudly.

Advice for other depots

Brad’s advice for other Coregas depots is simple: "Service is the key to everything. Nothing’s too hard, and if you make things easy for the customer, you’re on a winner."

With its unwavering commitment to customer service, hands-on approach, and strong family values, Bundy Hot Gas is a shining example of what a local gas business can achieve.
